First Impressions of the Barceló Hotel in Playa Blanca
The New Barceló Hotel in Playa Blanca opened it's doors to guests on the 1st December this year. Here at TravelON.World we not only followed the progress of the impressive build, but have also been hearing the thoughts of the first guests to stay there and experience all that the Hotel has to offer.
The Barceló Hotel in Playa Blanca
The New Barceló Hotel in Playa Blanca is by far the largest hotel in Lanzarote boasting an impressive 1,400 beds across 720 rooms. It's located between the town and Marina Rubicon and sold to guests as an "innovative" 4-star complex.
"
Guests with rooms facing the Atlantic are blessed with panoramic sea views that include the islands of Los Lobos and Fuerteventura. It's premium look and feel is geared towards those who want to indulge in their holiday experience and also includes an area exclusively for the use of adults.
There are 8 restaurants, each with their own unique theme covering cuisine from Asia, Mexico and of course The Canary Islands.
Rooms offer a sea view and have been designed with an open-plan approach which has attracted some criticism from early guests. Certain rooms also offer a swim up pool, whilst others have private plunge pools on their terrace. There are six different types of rooms and public areas reflecting the art and style of the late Lanzarote artist, César Manrique.

But what are the guests actually saying about the Barceló Hotel in Playa Blanca?
Some guests have had such a good experience at the new hotel, they have extended their stay and been offered an upgrade!.
As you might expect from a new hotel build, especially of this size, there are a number of guests reporting teething problems, however still praising the Staff and entertainment.
Many guests praised the appearance of the rooms and facilities but some commented that there were many problems.
Some guests were extremely satisfied with their stay and praised the selection and quality of the food.
Guests staying on the Royal Level commented that their pool temperature was perfect and just sat high enough to get a nice breeze on a warm Lanzarote evening.
Plenty of Sun Beds! One of the burning questions from potential guests looking to book their holiday at The Barceló Playa Blanca have been asking if there are plenty of sun beds available. Early guests staying at the hotel have confirmed there are plenty and there is no need to worry.
Are the early guests recommending the Barceló Playa Blanca Hotel? Teething issues aside, there are a lot of good things being said about the hotel and many already recommending it.
Barceló Playa Blanca Commercial Promenade
The Barceló Playa Blanca hotel is complemented by a sea front commercial promenade, named Paseo LASAL. The promenade, lined with prestigious brands and restaurants will open in January 2024.
We've seen a few comments from people asking about the hotels green credentials and plan for providing sustainable accommodation. The recommendation is to contact the hotel directly with questions so specific however the resort has said that it "stands out for its commitment to sustainability, blending into the environment and incorporating geothermal technology to reduce its environmental footprint."
Final thoughts... The hotel build was a huge project and it's getting a lot of important things right. As with any new building, the complexities involved in ensuring modern technology and systems work across such scale, its inevitable that there would be hiccups and unfortunately sometimes the only way to really test drive a new hotel out is to open it.
Reviews that we've seen have been mixed but largely positive and, although its early days, we think that the hotel will be a firm favourite for travellers for many years to come.
