Getting around Playa Blanca can be a bit of a chore at times due to the way that the resort is spread out, but what many people don’t know is that the No.30 bus provides a cost effective and easy way to get around the entire resort.
In a recent video posted to our YouTube Channel, we boarded the bus at the main bus stop in the centre of town. The buses are spotlessly clean and run on an efficient schedule throughout the day, and are kitted out to cater for people with mobility issues who may not find it easy to get on a coach or bus.
At the time of filming the bus service is cash only but it’s a very affordable €1.40 per journey, even if you just get on to do the full loop as we did for the purpose of the video
The bus runs on an anti clockwise circuit so from the main bus station (where we boarded) the No.30 heads west towards the harbour and Rio Hotel, and then round the residential areas behind the Paradise Island hotel.
From here the bus continues its journey west and stops opposite the Rubicon Palace hotel before heading down to the Faro Park area of the resort. The bus does visit the 'strip' area of Faro Park where you will find some amazing bars and restaurants. This is an area that is often missed by visitors to Playa Blanca and the internal bus service makes it super easy to get there and back.
After Faro Park the bus heads back East, towards the main town of Playa Blanca. Essentially it heads back to the bus station but on the other side of the road, stopping at the harbour and the stop opposite the main Estaciones de Guaguas.
From the centre of Playa Blanca the bus then continues East and past the Mynd Yaiza and then the Dreams Playa Dorada hotels.
The next hotel you will see is the brand new Barcelo hotel, which will be familiar to subscribers of the TravelON world You Tube channel as we followed the development of the mega resort.
This is also the area where you will find the Marina Rubicon, home to some great bars, restaurants and shops set against the waters edge and some stunning boats. This is also where you will get off if you are visiting the market on a Saturday and Wednesday morning.
The bus will then head up to the Las Coloradas / San Marcial area of town which is largely residential but there are also some large hotels situated at this end of town. If you’re using the bus to do your weekly shop this is where you’ll also find a Hiperdino supermarket along with the popular English supermarket overseas.
Once the bus does a 180, and heads back to town, it stops off at the Princess Yaiza hotel, the vibrant Papagayo Centre and Dorada Beach and finally the Sun Beach hotel before heading back to the Estaciones de Guaguas and starting the loop all over again.
As we’ve said, the bus service is efficient and affordable and an easy way to get around and a fraction of the cost of getting a taxi.
There is a bus every 30 mins, both on the hour and half past the hour so you never have to wait long and the service runs from 7am to 11pm every day. The service during a Festival or Bank Holiday may be slightly reduced.
