Fuerteventura to Lanzarote
There are plenty of things to see and do in Fuerteventura to keep you busy during your stay, but did you know that with just a short ferry across the water you can visit some of the best sights and attractions that Lanzarote has to offer - all in just one day.
If touring the attractions isn't your thing then simply taking a ferry from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote to enjoy a day in Playa Blanca is also a great day out. Although the two islands are close in proximity, they both offer a very different vibe and ambience and it's always a great experience to visit two Canary Islands during one holiday!
Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry
With Lanzarote only a short ferry trip from Fuerteventura it's got to be worth a day out - whether you decide to go on an organised tour of Lanzarote or just stay in Playa Blanca to explore the town, sample the restaurants and watch the world go by. If you want to explore but don't want to go on a coach trip you also have the option of hiring a car for the day. There are car hire companies in the Playa Blanca harbour, although its probably advised to book your car in advance if that's your plan.
There are three different Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry services, but for foot passengers the most popular service is run by Lineas Romero. It's a smaller boat but it's more cost effective and it gets you across the small stretch of water in around 30-40 minutes. The ferry departs Corralejo Harbour and arrives into Lanzarote in Playa Blanca. The Playa Blanca harbour is just a few minutes walk from the main promenade where you'll find a great selection of shops, restaurants and bars.
If you want to visit Lanzarote to just chill out and relax, then head to Playa Dorada. It's not too far from the harbour and is a welcoming beach with a breakwater, sun beds, parasols and water-sports for those that are feeling a bit more active. If you want to venture a bit further the Marina Rubicon is around 20 minutes further and you'll find a stunning selection of restaurants and designer outlets. And if you're visiting on a Wednesday or Saturday morning then head over the Marina to check out the bi-weekly Playa Blanca market, full of artisan crafts, fresh produce and gifts made by the local talent.
If you're looking to hire a car to explore the island at your own pace then we recommend getting the earliest possible Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry to give you more time to discover some of the best spots on the island. Lanzarote is a lot smaller than Fuerteventura so it is possible to get around the whole island in one day, but be mindful of the last return ferry back to Corralejo as once you miss it there is no way back until the next morning. Some of the popular attractions in Lanzarote that you might want to visit by car are The Timanfaya National Park, Mirador del Rio, The Green Caves, Jameos del Agua and The Papagayo beaches.
If you don't want to hire a car but still want to explore then the Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Volcanos day trip is the one for you. This tour picks you up from, or very near to, your Fuerteventura accommodation and takes you to Corralejo where you will board the ferry to Lanzarote. Once you dock in Playa Blanca you're back on the coach and taken to see some of the best attractions in the South West of the island including The Timanfaya National Park, La Geria Wine Region, The Aloe Vera Farm, El Lago Verde (the green lake) and Los Hervideros. When the day is over your return ferry awaits to take you back to Fuerteventura, and once back in Corralejo you will be returned to your resort and accommodation.
Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry Only
If you just want to catch the Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry without the tour, you can still book it with pick-up and drop-off included from your resort. The Fuerteventura to Lanzarote ferries run several times a day but we do recommend taking the earliest ferry possible to maximise your time in Lanzarote. Whilst the Fuerteventura to Lanzarote Ferry timetables may vary slightly, especially during the winter months, they tend to operate as follows

Is it worth taking a day trip to Lanzarote when staying in Fuerteventura?
The short answer, in our opinion, is yes. With the islands being so close together a day trip from one to the other offers different experiences. Both islands offer unique opportunities to explore natural phenomena and although they are both Spanish islands there is definitely a different feel about them and how people go about their daily lives. And by hopping on the ferry from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote you can always tell people you went to both islands for your holiday!
