IQ Foil Championships in Lanzarote

The IQ Foil World Championships take place in Lanzarote from today for 5 days of agility, speed and endurance and you can catch all the action at the Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca.

151 Competitors from 15 countries around the world are in Lanzarote to take place in the IQ Foil World Championships .

IQ Foil, the latest evolution in windsurfing, combines traditional techniques with innovative technology. These unique boards are equipped with hydrofoils, which lift the board above the water at high speeds, reducing drag and allowing for an incredibly fast and smooth ride. This cutting-edge design has revolutionised windsurfing, making it faster, more dynamic, and more exciting than ever before.

Why is the IQ Foil World Championships in Lanzarote?

Lanzarote is a windy island and provides the perfect conditions for IQ Foil Racing, and the GB Team have been using the island as a base due to it's fairly close proximity to the UK. The IQ Foil World Championships in Lanzarote is the first major event of the year for the sport, which then moves onto Japan in February, and then back to Cadiz in March.
