The average length of a stay in Lanzarote continues to decrease, despite the number of visitors to the island increasing.
With limited, although plentiful, accommodation on the island it may not be surprising that the two figures go hand in hand as shorter stays can result in an increased turnover in visitors, however in June the average stay per visitor in Lanzarote was just 7.34 days, down one day from the same period 10 years ago.
The Lanzarote Cabildo and Tourism departments have been working hard to encourage longer stays to reduce the ecological impact on the island, but despite this the average time spent per visit continues to fall.
Up to June 2017 the island saw visitors stays exceeding 8 days per visit.
It was the Danish who opted for the longest stays in June 2023, holidaying for a huge 18 days on average, although their visitor numbers were reported at just 1,350.
16,445 German Visitors came in second with average stays of just more than 10 days.
Irish and Polish visitors to Lanzarote stayed for an average of 8 days, whilst the British spent less than 8 days on the island during June 2023.
Although the average length of stay in Lanzarote has been declining for some time, there are many global factors that could cause shorter stays, such as the cost of accommodation and financial pressures such as cost of living increases. Holidays are clearly still important to people, but many may be looking to minimise expenditure by cutting down the number of days and time away from work.
