Foreign Office issues a travel warning for visitors to the Canary Islands during October 2023, as a series of coach strikes are scheduled throughout the month.
Over 15,000 road transport workers in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura have opted to strike on specific days during the month of October 2023.
After Salary negations broke down, the move sees transport links restricted, including Airport Transfers and Excursions, from Monday 2 October on a schedule that runs until the end of the month. Days affected by the Canary Islands transport strike include 2nd, 4th, 7th , 9th, 11th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th and 28th October, unless a resolution can be found beforehand.
Excursions
Excursions that rely on coach operators will also be cancelled on the dates previously mentioned. If your booking falls on a date that's affected by the strikes contact your Excursion Operator to reschedule your tour. TravelON World customers will automatically be notified if their bookings conflict with a strike date and alternative arrangements will be offered.
Due to the reduced number of days that the tours will be operating this month, it's more important than ever to book your places in advance to avoid disappointment on days where transport services are operating normally.

Airport Transfers
A limited Airport Transfer service is being put in place by Tour Operators, however holiday-makers are reminded that transfer times may not be specific to flight departure times and you may find yourself at the airport a good few hours before check-in. If you're travelling with a tour operator it is advised to check with them for further information.
Public Transport
Whilst public transport (bus services and taxies) is not affected by the strike, expect a higher demand than usual on strike daysl.
