Upon collection at your cruise ship, you will be transported to the island’s national park, located in the south western side of the beautiful island of Lanzarote. Here you will begin your journey back in time, as you take in the sights and surroundings of this ancient and moon-like landscape.

Timanfaya national park

Timanfaya national park is a protected area containing many unique and diverse flora and fauna, as well as containing a beautifully rugged terrain dotted with extinct volcanoes, ones that once violently ruled the island many years ago. Its creation came about between the years of 1730 and 1736, whereby 6 years of continuous and relentless eruptions took place, forming this marvelous arid landscape. Its fiery and violent history can still be seen today in the deep heat of its ‘fire mountains’ whereby local meats can still be cooked, as well as its Geysers or ‘hot springs’ which can expel hot water and steam, exceeding temperatures of 600’C!!. Certain areas of the park are not accessible to the public but can be seen through various tour buses and coaches. The park also contains a visitors center close by where you can learn more about the history of the area. Feel free to have a bite in the Timanfaya restaurant whereby the majority of your food will be cooked using the heat of the active volcano! As well as all of this, there are also opportunities to take part in camel rides, which take you on a small trek to appreciate some breathtaking views of the park. There really is something for the whole family to enjoy!
