Where is Los Lobos ?
Los Lobos, declared as a national park, is a small island off the North Coast of Fuerteventura. Translated, Los Lobos translates as The Wolves and is named that way due to the fact that seals used to live on the island, and the locals referred to them as Wolves. It's an uninhabited island and protected land, so there are no developments or man built attractions there. What you will find is stunning natural beauty, some amazing walks, golden sands and crystal clear, warm waters.
Due to its protected status, only 400 people are allowed to visit Los Lobos every single day. As you can imagine, this makes booking in advance extremely important if you was to spend a day visiting the island.
Things to do in Los Lobos
The first thing you will notice when you arrive at Los Lobos is just how stunning the natural scenery and landscape is, and it's quickly apparent that the island is uninhabited and protected. There are set paths around the island that you must stick to whilst exploring and there is a solitary cafe / bar on the island where you can enjoy snacks and drinks. The beaches and landscape of Los Lobos are simply out of this world. The golden sands and warm waters are perfect for relaxing in the warm Canary Island sunshine, or if you're feeling adventurous why not walk around the permitter of the island, visiting the lagoons and Punta Martino Lighthouse in the North. For the energetic and adventurous amongst us, why not take a 127m high trek up to the top of the La Caldera Volcano where you can experience breathtaking views over Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the Atlantic Ocean.
Relaxing in Los Lobos
Of course, walking and hiking isn't for everyone and Los Lobos is also a great place to unwind and relax. The Golden Sands of Playa La Concha are the perfect setting to set up camp for the day.
