Fire Mountain Lanzarote
Our Lanzarote Highlights Tour simply has to include the Timanfaya National Park. This is by far the most popular attraction on the island, and rightly so. Discover the lunar like landscape of the lava fields and volcanoes of The Timanfaya National Park and experience geothermal experiments, harnessing the extreme heat below the surface of the active Fire Mountain volcano.
Timanfaya National Park Luna Tour
The Timanfaya National Park Luna Tour is a coach tour around the lava fields and volcanoes. This air-conditioned, guided journey is certainly a sight to behold. Witness the devastation of the volcanic eruptions on the island as the lava fields spread out for miles towards the coastline. The amazing colours and shades of the volcanic rock make for some great photos, and the coach will pause at intervals on the tour at the best spots to capture some amazing photographs.
Lunch Break
Every day-long excursion needs a lunch break. Enjoy a buffet-style lunch in the park, available for between €13 to €15 per person. This is payable on the day of the tour and is not included in the booking price.
Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves)
Moving on, the tour then takes you to Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves). The caves are part of a lava tunnel that was created by the nearby Volcano La Corona some 3,000 - 4,000 years ago. It stretches for nearly 7.6 kilometres making it one of the longest volcano tunnels in the world. However the guided tour covers just around 1km and the guided tour takes about 1 hour to walk around. Fun fact : These caves were once used by the locals as a hiding place from pirate invasions!
The Lanzarote caves are also home to an auditorium where various classical concerts are held.
Los Jameos del Aqua
The final stop on the Lanzarote Highlights Tour is Los Jameos del Aqua. This is another attraction designed and created by the late local artist and architect, Cesar Manrique. The main feature of Los Jameos del Aqua is a subterranean salt lake where you will find hundreds of blind albino crabs that are native only to Lanzarote. As you emerge from the tunnel you'll enter a typical Manrique-inspired garden and stunning pool. At the back of the garden is a concert hall built into the lava tunnel. The venue regularly stages concerts here, but that's for another excursion on another day...
